Whoopi Goldberg Defends Offensive Remarks About Holocaust, Doubles Down on Slur
Whoopi Goldberg is at it again with offensive remarks about the Holocaust.
In February 2022, Goldberg suggested the Holocaust was “not about race” during an episode of The View, intimating that it was “white on white” crime rather than an attempt to erase an entire people.
During a segment on a Tennessee school board’s removal of the Holocaust graphic novel Maus from its curriculum, co-host Sunny Hostin suggested board members were “banning discussions about race.”
Goldberg weighed in saying, “If you’re going to do this, then let’s be truthful about it because the Holocaust isn’t about race.”
“No, it’s not about race. It’s not about race. It’s about man’s inhumanity to man. That’s what it’s about.”
Her comments made national headlines and she was forced to apologize and was suspended from The View.
Goldberg doubled down on her slur during an interview for her new film “Til” speaking with Times of London reporter Janice Turner.
My best friend said, ‘Not for nothing is there no box on the census for the Jewish race. So that leads me to believe that we’re probably not a race,’” Goldberg told the Sunday Times of London in an interview promoting her new movie “Till.”
“It wasn’t originally” about race, Goldberg insisted, noting the Nazis also killed people they believed to be “mentally defective.”
When interviewer Janice Turner pushed back with a familiar refrain — saying the Nazi’s considered Jews a race — Goldberg said it was wrong to use their definition.
“The oppressor is telling you what you are. Why are you believing them? They’re Nazis. Why believe what they’re saying?” she insisted.
“It doesn’t change the fact that you could not tell a Jew on a street. You could find me. You couldn’t find them. That was the point I was making. But you would have thought that I’d taken a big old stinky dump on the table, butt naked,” Goldberg continued.
