TRAVEL HELL: Winter Bomb Cyclone Prompts Flight Delays and Cancellations Ahead of Christmas Holiday Weekend

Thousands of flights have been canceled and delayed due to a winter bomb cyclone that is making its way across the Midwest and Eastern part of the US.

The Arctic blast will bring heavy snow and blustery conditions to Chicago.

According to the FlightAware app, more than 2,500 flights have been canceled ahead of the Christmas holiday weekend.

Bloomberg reported:

As of 11:30 a.m., more than 1,700 flights have been canceled on Thursday and another 820 nixed on Friday, according to data from FlightAware, an app that provides real-time, historical, and predictive flight tracking data. Cancellations are virtually guaranteed to climb over the coming days.

A combined 343 flights are canceled Thursday out of Chicago’s O’Hare and Midway airports, plus another 216 flights out of Denver International. A slew of airports across the country are seeing double-digit cancellations, including in Kansas City, Des Moines, St. Louis, Minneapolis, Boston, Baltimore, Nashville, Los Angeles, Orlando and Phoenix as well as Washington DC’s Reagan National, Las Vegas’s Harry Reid, New York’s LaGuardia, Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson, Dallas Love Field and Austin-Bergstrom.
