MAGA Firebrand Kari Lake has been named as the Trump Administration’s senior adviser to the U.S. Agency for Global Media (USAGM), the agency that oversees Voice of America, the government’s international news network.

Lake was sworn into the position on Monday. The Gateway Pundit has obtained an email that Lake sent on Sunday to all staff at the agency, where she declared a return to the goal of “working efficiently and honestly to cover this consequential moment in our nation’s history.”

Lake will soon oversee Voice of America as the director. President Trump announced in December that Lake would take over the network after a new USAGM CEO is confirmed, which could be a years-long process. The VOA Director is chosen by the USAGM CEO and International Broadcasting Advisory Board.

However, Lake’s new role appears to be a masterful way for the White House to get Lake started immediately in an even more powerful role within the agency.

Lake has vowed to restore fairness and accuracy to VOA and the far-left USAGM.

Currently, the organization is thoroughly embedded with leftwing activists.

The current Voice of America Director, Michael Abramowitz, is an anti-Trump Lunatic who penned a scathing January 6 editorial in 2022, where he accused President Trump of “disregard for constitutional checks and balances, anticorruption safeguards, and the human rights of immigrants and asylum seekers” and attacking Democracy.

The far-left op-ed claimed, “The president of the United States—enabled by his most radical or sycophantic supporters—engaged in a brazen attempt to overturn the 2020 election results and remain in power in defiance of the constitution and the will of the people,” while calling for the sham January 6 Committee investigating Trump to use its “crucial window of opportunity.”

Another example of this is former VOA White House Chief and international reporter Steve Herman, who goes under the X handle @W7VOA. He recently attacked President Trump, pushing a narrative that Trump’s plan to defund USAID “makes Americans less safe at home and abroad.”

Trump advisor and former Director of National Intelligence Ric Grenell called out Herman, who receives special security clearances and a government title but uses his platform to “work against the official U.S. government policies while being paid by US taxpayers.”

“It isn’t too much to suggest this is treasonous,” Grenell said, adding that Herman “should be immediately fired.”

Department of Government Efficiency head Elon Musk chimed in on the exchange, calling to shut down Radio Free Europe and Voice of America, noting, “It’s just radical left crazy people talking to themselves while torching $1B/year of US taxpayer money.”

But Lake has defended the agency, calling it a “weapon” in the information war and saying that it’s “worth trying to save.”

In an email to USAGM staff on Monday she told staff she will be “reforming and modernizing the agency into something the American people are willing to support.” With Kari Lake in a lead role at the agency, we can be assured that far-left activism will be taken out of the newsroom, waste will be cut, President Trump’s executive orders will be followed to a T, and taxpayer dollars will be put to good use.

Lake announced Monday morning that she was sworn in, saying, “Looking forward to serving America, streamlining the United States Agency of Global Media and everything it oversees.”

The email she sent to all staff reads:

Subject: A Message from Kari Lake

I am delighted to be joining the United States Agency for Global Media as the Senior Advisor for the Administration, and I’m honored President Trump has chosen me to serve in this role overseeing the agency, its outlets, and grantees.

We have an important mission: “inform, engage, and connect people around the world in support of freedom and democracy.” It doesn’t get much bigger than that.

As President John F. Kennedy said on the 20th anniversary of Voice of America—our task is “to tell America’s story around the world” and to do so in a way that is truthful. That remains our job today.

Some of you may know, I had a 30-year career as a professional broadcast journalist covering Arizona, America, and beyond. I am married to an incredible photojournalist and videographer. So, I understand the challenges faced by those who cover news both in front of and behind the camera, and I have immense respect for the men and women who do the job with honesty and integrity.

Sadly, journalism is experiencing dark days right now. The public has lost almost all trust in the media. For those reading this—it is critical we recognize our agency is funded by hardworking American taxpayers, many of whom are struggling to make ends meet. That means we have an added responsibility to restore their trust while working efficiently and honestly to cover this consequential moment in our nation’s history.

In my new role at USAGM I am committed to quickly reforming and modernizing the agency into something the American people are willing to support. I look forward to working with you.
