Family of Idaho Quadruple Murder Suspect Bryan Kohberger Releases Statement

The family of Bryan Kohberger, the suspect arrested in connection to the murder of the four University of Idaho students, released a statement late Sunday evening.

Kohberger, 28, was charged with four counts of first-degree murder for allegedly fatally stabbing 20-year-old Ethan Chapin of Conway, Washington; 21-year-old Madison Mogen of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; 20-year-old Xana Kernodle of Avondale, Arizona; and 21-year-old Kaylee Goncalves of Rathdrum, Idaho on November 13.

Kohberger’s family asked for patience and privacy as the legal process plays out.

“First and foremost we care deeply for the four families who have lost their precious children,” the statement, released by Monroe Public Defender Jason Labar reads. “There are no words that can adequately express the sadness we feel, and we pray each day for them. We will continue to let the legal process unfold and as a family we will love and support our son and brother. We have fully cooperated with law enforcement agencies in an attempt to seek the truth and promote his presumption of innocence rather than judge unknown facts and make erroneous assumptions. We respect privacy in this matter as our family and the families suffering loss can move forward through the legal process.”

Kohberger plans to waive the extradition hearing which was scheduled for January 3rd, according to Monroe County Chief Public Defender Jason LaBar.

Fellow classmates and people who knew Kohberger described him as an oddball who was bullied and in return bullied others.

According to a fellow Washington State University classmate, Kohberger changed around the time of the murders.

• The friend of the police officer who tracked Kohberger said the suspected killer stalked his victims prior to allegedly stabbing them to death.
