Remember when Stacey Abrams and her media stenographers told us Georgia’s new “Jim Crow 2.0” election laws would lead to voter suppression?

It turns out there was record early voting in Georgia’s primary elections.

Democrat gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams complained about the record high voter turnout in Georgia’s primary elections.

Republican turnout outpaced Democrats by a margin of 406,388 to 299,232, according to the Georgia Recorder.

Abrams is not happy about this.

The Georgia Recorder reported:

The secretary of state’s office reported that more than 710,000 people had cast ballots in Georgia as of Friday, the last day of the three-week early voting period, for a 180% increase over the same point in the 2018 primary election and a 149% increase over the same point in the 2020 primary election.

For much of early voting, lines were minimal; however, in the final days, lines started to lengthen in places like Gwinnett County’s Board of Elections Office, where some voters said they waited for an hour or more to cast their vote.

The Republican primary turnout greatly outpaced Democrats by a margin of 406,388 to 299,232. A higher than usual percentage of voters who typically vote for Democrats cast GOP ballots, with attention-grabbing races and the Trump-effect playing out at the top of the ticket. That includes a gubernatorial primary in which Gov. Brian Kemp holds a healthy lead over Donald Trump-endorsed former U.S. Sen. David Perdue and a U.S. Senate GOP primary led by former University of Georgia football star Herschel Walker.

According to early numbers, 850,000 Georgia voters cast their ballots early.  This is a 168% increase over 2018.

Abrams spent years claiming voter suppression by evil racist Republicans led to her election loss last time around.

Now she’s complaining about high voter turnout.

“We know that increased turnout has nothing to do with suppression,” Abrams said.
