Kelvin Vickers, the suspect charged with killing Officer Anthony Mazurkiewicz and wounding Officer Sino Seng is from Massachusetts. His last known address is in Brockton, a suburb 25 miles north of Boston and 400 miles from Rochester…
…Vickers is a young man with a long rap sheet.
“The suspect is from Massachusetts, the Boston area and he has an extensive criminal background,” said RPD Captain Frank Umbrino.
Vickers’ crimes began when he was just a child. Police tell us he was 12 when he faced charges of assault and battery on an officer. And before his 18th birthday, he would be charged with burglary-related offenses, strangulation with a deadly weapon, assault with a deadly weapon, and two separate possession of firearms offenses. When he was 18 he was convicted of possessing an unlicensed firearm.
And now, at 21 years old, he’s charged with the most heinous of crimes, sneaking up behind officers who were sitting in an unmarked van, hiding behind shrubs and spraying the van with bullets. For that, he faces charges of murder in the 2nd degree, attempted murder in the 2nd degree, assault in the 2nd degree and two counts criminal possession of a weapon in the 2nd degree.
