WATCH: Hero Supermarket Manager in Mexico Dives Into the Road and Saves Child From Being Run Over by Oncoming Traffic

Cruz reacted fast, ran fast, and saved the child’s life.

A supermarket manager in Mexico is being praised online for a heroic act caught on CCTV.

Back on Sunday (6), the man sprang into action, jumping into the road to save a three-year-old girl from oncoming traffic.

Fox News reported:

“Luis Cruz, a manager at the Super King El Rey del Ahorro grocery store, sprinted after the girl who had wandered into the busy road and grabbed her while diving to the ground moments before she would have been hit by a silver minivan.

The girl had run out of the Puebla, Mexico, supermarket around 2 p.m. local time after slipping out of her mother’s grip.”

The CCTV images show a woman chasing the girl, but she falls before she could grab the child.

“Video shows Cruz quickly tackling the girl to the ground moments before a minivan crossed the lane she would have entered had Cruz not stopped her.”

Cruz said he didn’t even think before jumping into action; as a father himself, he was driven by paternal instinct.

The New York Post reported:

“After the youngster was safe and sound, Cruz can be seen on the surveillance footage limping slightly back to the pallet jack he was using before he raced into the street, resuming his work where he left off.

The supermarket lauded his quick-thinking actions and selfless heroism in a lengthy Instagram post, naming him Manager of the Year and presenting him with a 20,000 peso ($1,184) reward.”

‘In a world where indifference often defines one’s ‘aura,’ you demonstrated today that your aura is that of a true HERO. Because today, you didn’t just save a result, a sale, or an operation. Today, you saved a life’, the glowing social media post translated from Spanish read in part.”
