Former Special Counsel Jack Smith on Thursday appeared on MS NOW to trash President Trump ahead of the Fourth of July weekend.
This is Jack Smith’s first interview since being forced to resign as special counsel in January 2025.
“I think we are facing an attack on the rule of law that is different in kind and scope to anything I’ve seen in my lifetime,” Jack Smith told MS NOW host Nicolle Wallace.
Of course, Nicolle Wallace did not push back on Jack Smith.
“I have investigated cases focusing on the facts and law throughout my career. We did this case the same way, under the same standards,” Smith insisted.
“The thing that’s important for your viewers to know is those standards are not meant to change from one administration to the next, and in my experience — until now — they haven’t,” he added.
Jack Smith absurdly claimed his witch hunt against President Trump was not political.
“I was perfectly happy to bring this case if the facts and law warranted it or not,” Smith said. “It hasn’t mattered what person’s political party was to do that, that’s how we went about our work. Completely apolitical. Politics did not play a role,” he said.
Jack Smith whined about Trump’s verbal attacks against him.
I’ll give you an example from from my life. I resigned as special counsel. I know I need to get a lawyer because the president has said he wants to jail me for doing my job. And so I retain lawyers, as soon as that becomes public, the president and the justice department target that law firm, and they do it because they don’t want me to have counsel. They don’t want to have anyone represent me,” Jack Smith said.
